About Shirley Overview
Shirley's passion is empowering people of all shapes, sizes, and levels of ability to reach for their personal best and to live fully in body, mind, and spirit. She's an international award-winning author, health educator, and trendsetting wellness and fitness expert with a specialty in mind-body exercise. With 20 years experience, Shirley has spent the last 10 years writing books and articles, lecturing, teaching workshops, and training clients worldwide. She especially enjoys leading retreats and teaching at resorts and spas worldwide.
Wellness Educator: Shirley's been affiliated with Stanford Prevention Research Center for over 10 years and has served as Associate Director of the Health Promotion Resource Center at Stanford University. She's been a trainer and health and wellness educator for the Stanford Health Improvement Program. Her specialties include motivating new exercisers and creating wellness at work, teaching stress management techniques like office exercises, breathing, meditation, visualization, aromatherapy, and self-massage, and leading workouts for a healthy heart, strong muscles, and strong bones. A certified Pilates and Yoga instructor, she also leads these classes.

Shirley is the IDEA® Health & Fitness Association Spokesperson for Mind-Body Exercise. She's been a continuing ed course provider for ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, AEA, and YMCA of the USA. She's certified by the American College of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, National Strength & Conditioning Association, and numerous other internationally recognized certifying bodies. She's a certified Pilates instructor, Yoga teacher, massage therapist, and aromatherapist. She also teaches continuing ed workshops for registered nurses and other allied health professionals.
